Research Operations Manager

Karyn Phillips provides business support for the Centre. She is a graduate from the Australian College of Health Services Executives Management Training Program, with qualifications in Health Information Management. Karyn has experience in business management including organisational and financial management for hospital services, as well as experience in patient services and quality management.

Salema Barrett is the Communication Officer for NCIRS. She has a degree in biomedical science, majoring in microbiology and parasitology, and a graduate certificate in marketing management. Salema has 19 years of experience in sales, marketing and communications within the life science industry. Salema’s recent career experience has been in communications with an infectious disease focus. Her latest achievements include managing the communications strategy for the successful initial public offering of an Australian infectious disease diagnostics company and its transition to an Australian Securities Exchange listed company.   

Salema’s role is to coordinate the development & implementation of the NCIRS communication strategy, build brand awareness, promote events, communicate to NCIRS stakeholders, and manage the production of NCIRS's promotional and educational  resources including the website. Salema is passionate about communicating Australian science and its benefit to healthcare globally.   

Lyn BenfieldMs Lyn Benfield
Senior Project Administration Officer

Lyn Benfield is the Senior Project Administration Officer for NCIRS and provides administrative secretariat support for working parties convened by the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation. Lyn also provides project and administrative support specifically for the Policy Support Group of NCIRS.  Lyn has an extensive background in quality and clinical risk and personal assistant roles within health organisations and has qualifications in Business Management and Marketing.

Ms Stoy Drinic BSc
Project Officer - Contracts and Grants Management

Stoy Drinic is a Project Officer at NCIRS and provides support and assistance in managing the grant and contract activities of the Centre. Stoy has over 10 years’ experience in research administration and management gained at funding agencies and in the university sector. Stoy has expertise in pre- and post- award grants management, project management and operational planning. Stoy holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Newcastle.

Senior Administration Officer

Andrea Martic is responsible for conference and workshop coordination for the Centre as well as administration and project coordination. Andrea has a background in, executive assistance, senior administration and business management support roles within health, private and other government organisations, involving varied work in areas such as office and event management, human resources, and health administration.  

Ms Jacqueline McCann
Administration Officer, PAEDS

Jacqueline McCann is responsible the administration support for PAEDS, collation of abstracts and presentations, and event/meeting organisation. Jacqui assists the project officer for contracts and grants as well as providing administration support for the Deputy Director.

Jacqui has a background within corporate travel and events as well as senior management support for directors of a global hospitality group.

Administration Officer, AusVaxSafety

Julie Ven is responsible for the administration and support for the AusVaxSafety program. She is a motivated and qualified professional bringing with her several years’ of experience in varying administrative roles within the Education, Human Resource and Hospitality sectors. Her exposure to varying industries allows her to encompass many aspects within the administration environment here at AusVaxSafety, adding value to the organisation.

Her qualifications include an Advanced Diploma of Human Resource Management, Advanced Diploma of Management, Advanced Diploma of Marketing, Diploma of Human Resource Management, Diploma of Business as well as continuing her studies in a Bachelor of Business and Commerce (Human Resource).

INGRID CHARTERSMs Ingrid Charters
Administration Officer

Ingrid Charters provides administrative support to all NCIRS staff. Ingrid has a wealth of administrative experience having previously provided administrative support at the Australian Paediatric Surveillance Unit in the Research Department of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and as a Personal Assistant to Solicitors in various legal firms.

Administration Officer

Lou-Ann Barr provides administrative support to Professor Robert Booy (Head of Clinical Research) and to NCIRS staff.  Prior to commencing with NCIRS in 2015, Lou-Ann held the position of Administration Coordinator at a Ministry of Health statewide child protection program in Westmead for over 20 years.

NSWISS Administration Officer

Tiff has over 15 years’ experience in Customer Service and Administration. She joined NCIRS as part of the NSWISS team in 2016 to coordinate administration and general operations of the Immunisation Clinic at The Children’s Hospital Westmead, and to support the NSWISS clinical team.

Ms Rosalind Horner
Accountant

Rosalind Horner provides support in the financial management of NCIRS. Prior to commencing with NCIRS, Rosalind worked as an Assistant Accountant in the Finance Department of The Children’s Hospital Westmead for 7 years.
